According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Anadolou Agency via Mehr News Agency, colombia’s Ministry of Commerce declared in a statement that coal exports to Israel have been prohibited due to ongoing military actions against the Palestinian people.
The statement said that this ban is enforced under a new decree which specifies that exporting coal “supports the war machine.”
Colombia also emphasized that this decision aligns with international treaties to which it is a party.
Diana Marcela Morales Rojas, Colombia’s Minister of Commerce, said: ”Colombia cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of the Palestinian people. This is a concrete action to halt escalation and affirms our country’s decisive role in global peace.”
A similar regulation banning coal exports to Israel was introduced in June 2024; however, some exemptions were allowed due to long-term contracts.
With the new decree, these exemptions have been removed, and Colombia has fully ceased all coal exports to the Israeli regime.
