Nabih Berri Fully Supports Resistance Arms, Warns Against Seditionists
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen,Nabih Berri,Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament,on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of Imam Musa Sadr’s disappearance and that of his companions, stated: “Muammar Gaddafi committed a crime against Imam Musa Sadr, and Libyan authorities continue to refuse cooperation with Lebanese judicial officials. We do not forget nor will we tolerate negligence. The crime of abducting this national and resistance leader along with his companions goes beyond missing persons; it is an attempt to seize Lebanon itself.”
Berri paid tribute to all martyrs, especially those who fell in recent conflicts, placing Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah at their forefront.
He emphasized that now is not the time to reopen old wounds or exploit past bloodshed but rather a moment for unity to save Lebanon.
issuing a stern warning about disruptive movements inside Lebanon, he said: “Beware when ignorance and fanaticism combine-they lead to destructive behavior. We caution against hateful stances that pose dangers for Lebanon. The arms of resistance are what free our land; they embody our honor and dignity. Any review concerning these weapons must occur calmly. We reject threats targeting our national charter or any disregard for the constitution.”
Berri also addressed Lebanon’s commitment to ceasefire agreements contrasted with violations by Israel: “the israeli regime has neither respected ceasefires nor ceased its aggression; instead, it has escalated occupation and attacks.”
He noted that destroyed villages were not exclusively Shia but included Sunni areas as well as Muslim- and Christian-populated settlements.
The parliament speaker stressed Israel’s insistence on refusing withdrawal from Lebanese territory: “The responsibility should not be shifted onto the Lebanese army-the army remains this country’s strongest shield. didn’t you see Netanyahu boast about fulfilling a historic mission toward creating ‘Greater Israel,’ which includes Lebanon? Isn’t it an affront to Lebanese sovereignty when enemy military chiefs enter Lebanese soil?”
berri underscored unity among all Lebanese as essential for protecting both sovereignty and national security.
He warned that some factions within Lebanon are eager for war in hopes of disrupting internal balance-even if their path involves relying on Israeli tanks.
Describing hostile mindsets as more dangerous than resistance weapons-which have preserved dignity and national sovereignty-he said: “We stand ready to discuss issues surrounding resistance arms within constitutional frameworks while formulating a defense strategy-not under intimidation.” He added referencing UNIFIL reports confirming full Lebanese compliance with ceasefires while Israel repeatedly violates them. Unfortunately, following Beirut’s acceptance of the Barak framework agreement, Israeli occupation expanded alongside its attacks.”
