Kim Departs for China by Train
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, South Korea’s Yonhap News reported that Kim Jong Un left Pyongyang this afternoon by train heading to Beijing. He is set to participate in a military parade commemorating victory Day on the 80th anniversary of World War II’s end and Beijing’s resistance against Japanese aggression.
This rare trip marks the first time a North Korean leader has attended a major multilateral diplomatic event. Yonhap stated that Kim is expected to arrive in Beijing tommorow.
Invited by chinese President Xi jinping, Kim Jong Un will join Russian President Vladimir Putin and other dignitaries in observing the military parade celebrating Japan’s surrender in World War II.
Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, who traveled to Tianjin for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, will also attend the Victory Day parade.
