Putin: Russia and Iran Are in Continuous Contact + Video
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and sputnik, russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in China.
During the meeting, Putin asked Pezeshkian to convey his greetings to Iran’s Supreme Leader and stressed the high importance he places on close friendship with Iran.
In a joint session with Pezeshkian’s delegation, Putin said Russia and Iran are in constant dialog regarding various aspects of the international agenda, including Iran’s nuclear program.
Putin also highlighted that bilateral trade volume between Russia and Iran rose by 11.4 percent in the frist half of 2025.
Regarding educational cooperation, he noted that more Iranian students are choosing to study in Russia. Their numbers have tripled over five years, reaching 9,110 currently enrolled Iranian students in Russian universities.
