Maduro: Venezuela Ready to Confront U.S. Threats
According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro held a press conference in Caracas amid rising tensions with the United States following the deployment of naval destroyers and a nuclear submarine near Venezuela’s coast.
Maduro stressed, “Some aim to return South America to an era of colonialism and domination. We will not permit this. Colonizers came seeking control over this region, but a generation inspired by Simón Bolívar stood firmly against them.”
He added, “To understand our current situation, one must look at our history. Our path is revolutionary struggle-freedom, independence, and resistance against colonialism. The Bolivarian revolution in the 21st century has grown stronger despite blockades and conspiracies from more than 31 countries working against us.”
Maduro highlighted that Venezuela held seven direct democratic elections within just one year. “This showcases our democracy and Venezuelan model,” he said. “The fascist right tried to undermine these democratic elections but failed; their power is diminishing daily.”
The president underscored that imperialism seeks to portray Venezuela’s popular socialist system as evil but cannot break the will of its people. “I am not a merchant; I am a worker and fighter defending this land,” he declared.
Continuing, Maduro stated that Venezuela’s military forces are exceptionally equipped and work alongside diplomacy to protect the homeland. He described an ongoing threat as terrifying, criminal, and unjustifiable-labeled by adversaries as maximum military pressure-and announced his country’s full military preparedness.
“Venezuela remains a nation committed to peace but accepts no threats. To grasp this fully, examine our history,” he said.
The president likened current moments in Venezuela to Cuba’s crisis in 1962 but emphasized that their response is complete internal readiness amid U.S.-imposed maximum pressure policies.
“We reaffirm Venezuela’s right to peace, life, and prosperity,” Maduro concluded.
