270 International Media Outlets Condemn Killing of Palestinian Journalists in Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Palestinian media via Mehr News Agency, more than 270 media organizations from 70 countries issued a joint statement on Monday condemning the massacre of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation army in the Gaza Strip. they demanded that Israel be held accountable.
This media campaign was launched at the initiative of two international organizations, Reporters Without Borders and Avaaz. In support, both organizations’ websites were overlaid with black banners on their homepages.
Prominent outlets participating in this movement include France’s L’Humanité,Germany’s Die Tageszeitung,Belgium’s La Libre Belgique,Portugal’s Público,the UK’s The autonomous,Lebanon’s L’Orient-Le Jour,and America’s Intercept.
These media outlets printed front pages against black backgrounds warning: “At the current pace at which the Israeli army is targeting Gaza-based journalists, soon no reporters will be left to cover developments in this region.”
Reporters Without Borders also stated that hundreds of global news platforms joined this show of solidarity. According to them,newspapers covered their front pages in black; news websites posted supportive messages prominently; and some television networks broadcast audio-visual statements condemning the killing of journalists.
