Axios: Trump’s Attempt to Drive Wedge Between Russia, China, and India Fails
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Russia Today, the Axios news website reported that former U.S.President Donald trump’s attempts to create divisions among Russia, China, and India have been unsuccessful.
Axios wrote that Narendra Modi, India’s Prime Minister-who previously faced tariffs and insults from Trump-established friendly ties with leaders from Russia and China during his first visit to China in seven years.
The report notes that Trump sought both to drive a wedge between India and Russia and to distance Russia from China. Though, images of the meeting among the three leaders represented at least one symbolic setback for Washington’s policies.
Axios also highlighted that U.S. tariffs on India due to its purchase of Russian oil sparked anger in New Delhi.
In his remarks, Modi implicitly emphasized that India would not cease buying Russian oil while concurrently taking steps to improve relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
It is worth noting that the presidents of Russia and China met with the Indian Prime Minister on monday during the Shanghai Cooperation organisation summit in Tianjin, China.
This gathering-which included over 20 countries-was declared the largest summit in this association’s history.
