Maduro Accuses Trump of Attempting Regime Change in Venezuela
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Fox news via Mehr News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused his American counterpart, Donald Trump, of trying to arrange a “regime change” in Caracas.
Maduro stated that if U.S.forces stationed in the Caribbean seas attack Venezuela, he will declare a nationwide state of alert according to the constitution.
These remarks come following the Trump governance’s decision to increase U.S. military presence near Venezuelan waters under the pretext of countering threats from drug cartels operating in this Latin American country.
Washington has not mentioned any planned ground invasion but has deployed thousands of military personnel to Caribbean shores. In response, Maduro’s government sent more than 1,500 troops along Venezuela’s border with Colombia and called on citizens to join paramilitary forces amid escalating threats from washington.
maduro warned that deploying American troops would lead to tensions he described as “irrational, unjustifiable, immoral, and a wholly criminal and bloody threat.” He emphasized: “In face of this maximum military pressure, we have declared maximum readiness for Venezuela’s defense.”
The Venezuelan president accused his U.S. counterpart of pursuing regime change efforts and cautioned that any military action or intervention in Caracas would “stain Trump’s hands with blood.”
Reuters and AFP previously reported that three U.S.warships sent by order of President Donald Trump had deployed near Venezuelan waters and are expected to remain there through this weekend; these moves were characterized by Washington as part of anti-drug trafficking operations targeting Latin America.
The deployment followed an intensification of pressure on Nicolás Maduro by the Trump administration. Recently, Washington increased its bounty for Maduro’s arrest up to $50 million amid allegations linking him with cocaine trafficking networks supplying drugs into the United States.
Sources revealed that an amphibious task force composed of three Aegis-class missile destroyers is en route toward venezuela’s coastlines and is scheduled to arrive by next Sunday.
Two anonymous officials told Reuters that these destroyers carry approximately 4,500 personnel including 2,200 U.S. Marines.
