High-Speed Train Services Halted in Japan Due to Heavy Rainfall
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and The Straits Times, intense rainfall in northeastern Japan has caused cancellations of multiple bullet train operations.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued warnings of landslides and flooding in the affected areas due to continuous heavy rain expected through September 3.
In response to the Shinjo River overflowing today, the city of Akita issued its highest alert level for more than 4,500 residents. Similar warnings have been issued for Gojome and Senboku cities within Akita Prefecture.
The agency also cautioned that rainfall could exceed typical monthly averages in some regions during september. it warned of possible thunderstorms, sudden strong winds, and hailstorms.
