Inside China’s Massive Military Parade: From the “Aircraft Carrier Killer” to Nuclear Missiles + Video
Mehr News agency, International Desk: Today marked the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japan in World War II with a ceremony held at tiananmen Square in Beijing, China’s capital. At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, leaders from more than 26 foreign countries attended this commemorative event. The Chinese government also invited several parliamentary heads, deputy prime ministers, senior representatives, officials from international organizations, and former political figures. Additionally, ambassadors, military attachés, representatives from international bodies based in China, and 50 friends or descendants of war survivors from 14 countries-including Russia, the United States, Britain, france, and Canada-were present.
Unveiling of Intercontinental Nuclear Missile
The parade featured new models of Type 100 tanks and armored combat vehicles. for the first time ever, China unveiled the Dongfeng-5C missile-a strategic intercontinental nuclear missile capable of reaching targets worldwide.
Many other military systems displayed during this parade were revealed publicly for the first time.
Introduction of Aircraft Carrier-Killer Missiles
Novosti reported that hypersonic weapons were showcased at the event including the YJ-21 ballistic missile-dubbed an “aircraft carrier killer.”
Chinese state television announced that six new types of air defense missiles such as HQ-19، HQ-12، and HQ-29 were presented alongside newly introduced drones.
President Xi Jinping emphasized during his speech: “Countries around the world can ensure shared security and prevent repeated historical tragedies by supporting one another.”
Showcasing Heavy Chinese Military Equipment at Tiananmen Square
The Type 99A tank-one of China’s most advanced with enhanced firepower and maneuverability-marched prominently. also on display was a combat support vehicle based on the Shuanglipuo (LZ17) unified chassis equipped with reconnaissance drones.
Inspection by Russian and North Korean Leaders
The presidents of Russia (Vladimir Putin), China (Xi Jinping) ,and North Korea (Kim Jong Un) jointly reviewed Beijing’s military parade.
The Power Display by Chinese Army Artillery Units
Sputnik reported that long-range multiple launch rocket systems PCH-191 MLRS with 370mm rockets (LZ45*) and also tactical-operational ballistic missiles launched by PCH-191 MLRS units appeared during this parade.
