Netanyahu Escalates Unprecedented Direct Clash with Israeli Army
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, two Israeli officials told CNN that Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, strongly opposes occupying Gaza City during war cabinet meetings due to the risk posed to captured Israeli soldiers.
The report states that Zamir also objects to this plan because it will likely result in further casualties among Israeli soldiers amid successful operations by Palestinian fighters.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu has rejected these concerns in the same meetings and insists on proceeding with the occupation of gaza City.He seeks a comprehensive agreement, aiming to use this pretext to extend his political tenure.
The tensions between Zamir and Netanyahu have escalated over recent weeks following media reports about the military chief’s opposition to occupying Gaza City. Netanyahu’s son, Yair, has also entered the fray by openly criticizing Zamir.
