Putin: Ukraine’s Security Cannot Come at Russia’s Expense
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Sputnik via Mehr News Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a press conference concluding his four-day trip to China.
Putin described the outcome of his visit as positive. he said that the working format in China allowed for informal meetings with foreign counterparts.The agreements reached with China benefit both sides.The documents signed during the trip focus on future cooperation. Global demand for energy, including in China, is rising. Energy needs in Asia and Oceania, particularly China, continue to grow. After reaching full capacity on the Power of Siberia 2 project, Russia will be able to export 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to China.
Putin also remarked that China’s concept of global governance was introduced at an opportune time. The initiative proposed by Xi Jinping aims to foster positive relations between countries worldwide.The unity shown among all nations gathered in China reflects a positive attitude and confidence in achieving these goals.
Addressing Ukraine, Putin stated: “Ukraine’s security cannot be guaranteed at the expense of Russia’s security.” Moscow has consistently opposed ukraine’s NATO membership. Until Ukrainian territory is restored, no other fighters will operate within its borders. “We are not fighting for land in Ukraine,” he added. Putin expressed willingness to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky but questioned how serious Zelensky is about talks. “If a good meeting with Zelensky is arranged, I am ready for it.”
He further noted that security guarantees for Ukraine in exchange for its territory were not discussed during an Alaska summit with former U.S. President donald Trump. He told Trump he was ready to meet Zelensky and invited him to come to moscow if willing; though, he stressed he never rejected meeting Zelensky before. “Zelensky’s era as president has ended; therefore meeting him would yield no results.” putin emphasized that Kyiv needs a referendum on territorial issues which requires ending martial law and holding elections.
