Grossi: Efforts Underway to Hold Meeting with Iran
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Al Jazeera, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stated on Wednesday that current talks with Iran on resuming inspections cannot continue for months. He expressed hope that inspections in Iran will resume soon and said they expect this outcome.
Without condemning Israel’s recent attacks against Iran-actions contrary to all international conventions and laws-Grossi claimed that efforts are ongoing to organize another meeting with Iran, possibly in Vienna within days. He added that the latest information on Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium dates back to June, before the Israeli attack. Since then, no new data has been received from Iran regarding its highly enriched uranium reserves.
Reported by RIA Novosti,Grossi asserted that an agreement with Iran is urgently needed and said it would be beneficial if such a deal happens before next week. He noted a general understanding exists that highly enriched uranium still remains in Iran. Furthermore, he acknowledged consensus that Iran is largely capable of producing more centrifuges for uranium enrichment.
