Haaretz: No One Can Prevent Israel’s Collapse
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing al-Mayadeen, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz warned in its editorial today about the continuation of plans to occupy gaza City. The paper emphasized that this plan lacks security justification and is driving Israel toward a worsening disaster.
Haaretz stressed that the regime is moving toward a disaster that expands daily and cautioned that the war in Gaza has exceeded all reasonable limits, both from a security and humanitarian viewpoint.
The newspaper acknowledged that slogans about defeating Hamas, restoring security control, and “returning captives” have lost thier meaning amid current ground realities.
Haaretz insisted that Operation “GideonS Chariots 2” cannot be justified from a security standpoint. Even Eyal zamir, Chief of staff of the Israeli army, has expressed warnings about the plan to occupy Gaza City.
The paper added that there are no valid security reasons for this operation while all military and security commanders within the cabinet support prisoner exchanges and have warned about the material and human costs associated with occupying Gaza.
Haaretz explained that although protests by captives’ families continue in an effort to influence cabinet decisions, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position remains firm since politically he benefits from continuing the war. As an inevitable result, no one is stopping Gaza’s destruction or Israel’s collapse.
The newspaper called for an immediate halt to destruction, prisoner returns, and acceptance of post-war operational plans proposed by Arab countries with international backing. It warned that time is running out and Israel must stop now.
Additionally, Hebrew-language Maariv quoted Israeli Reserve Major General Yisrael Brick as warning that reoccupying Gaza could have catastrophic consequences.Brick stated implementing this plan is practically unfeasible and would lead to widespread chaos within the occupied territories.
He further explained that limitations among ground forces contribute to the army’s inability to defeat Hamas. The lack of additional troops reduces their capacity to hold territory once occupied.
