Afghanistan Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 2,200
Media reports indicate a rise in the death toll from the recent earthquake in Afghanistan.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Ariana news via Mehr News Agency, Afghan authorities have confirmed that the earthquake death toll has reached 2,200. Additionally, 3,640 people have been injured.
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Nangarhar and Kunar provinces in eastern afghanistan on the early morning of August 31, reducing mud-brick homes and narrow village streets to rubble.
Earlier reports had placed the casualties at 1,457 dead and 3,394 injured.
