Another Powerful Earthquake Shakes Eastern Afghanistan
As the death toll from the recent earthquake in Afghanistan continues to rise, another quake shook the eastern part of the country just moments ago.
The English section of webangah News Agency reported,citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency,that a powerful earthquake struck Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan moments ago.
Reuters confirmed the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.2 on the Richter scale.
no reports have yet been released regarding casualties or damage from this latest quake. Simultaneously occurring, fatalities from the previous earthquake in Afghanistan continue to increase.
Officials announced today that the death toll has reached 2,200, with an additional 3,640 injured.
The earlier 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck just before dawn on August 31 in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces. It reduced mud-brick homes and narrow village lanes to rubble.
