Kremlin: Another Putin-Trump Meeting Likely in Near Future

Kremlin spokesperson says a renewed meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States is highly likely.

According to the English section of webangah News⁢ Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and ⁣Reuters,⁤ Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin‍ spokesperson, expressed that a renewed and imminent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump ‍is absolutely‌ possible. He described Trump’s approach to the war in Ukraine⁤ as⁤ significantly more constructive than that⁤ of⁤ European countries.

Peskov ⁣contrasted Trump’s stance with ⁢that of European nations ⁣regarding the Ukraine conflict, ⁣stating that Europeans are doing everything within⁣ their power to⁢ prevent a peaceful resolution.

He added:⁢ “On the other hand,Trump’s approach⁤ is more constructive. He says, ‘If you can⁤ trade, why wage war?’‌ Based on this U.S.-interest-driven perspective, he will do whatever it takes to halt wars.”

The russian diplomat emphasized that⁣ Russia prefers⁣ resolving the Ukraine war through diplomacy rather than ⁢military means. He continued: “If Trump can assist us politically and diplomatically in providing ⁤this mechanism, our interests align. Therefore, this should be welcomed.”

Trump’s recent statements have fluctuated-ranging from ‍confidence in Putin’s willingness to end the war to harsh criticism over Russia’s bombardment of Ukrainian cities.

Moscow has consistently‍ appreciated Trump’s‌ efforts toward peace between Moscow ‌and⁢ Kyiv while accusing ‌European⁣ governments of attempting to obstruct peace efforts.

Trump and Putin met three weeks ago in Alaska. Peskov said: ⁣”There is ‌no doubt that if necessary,an immediate new meeting between both sides can be arranged. Working contacts between them are ongoing.”

The ⁤U.S. president-who reopened criticism ⁢against Putin last week by saying he is “disappointed” with him-announced yesterday his intention to ⁢speak with Putin soon.
