Shiite Ministers Walk Out of Lebanese Cabinet Meeting Over Resistance Disarmament Proposal

Following the Lebanese army commander’s attendance at a cabinet session to ‌discuss the government’s monopoly on weapons, Shia ministers walked‌ out ‌of the meeting.

According ⁢to‍ the English section of webangah News Agency, citing ⁤Mehr News Agency and⁣ Al Mayadeen, Lebanon’s army Commander General Rudolf Heikal attended a⁢ cabinet meeting to review ‌a plan granting the⁤ state exclusive control over arms. In response, four Shia ministers affiliated with Hezbollah‍ and the ‍Amal Movement left the session. Fadi Makki was another minister who ⁢exited​ during discussions on disarming resistance factions.

Ministers ⁣Rakan nasserdin ‌and‌ Mohammad Haidar⁤ were among⁢ those who​ left the main hall of the Presidential Palace-the venue for this‌ meeting-and moved to an adjacent room.

the Council of ministers‍ convened at Lebanon’s Presidential Palace‌ earlier today with President Michel Aoun and Prime ‍Minister Nawaf Salam present to ​purposeful on the​ army’s proposal for a governmental arms⁣ monopoly.

Al Mayadeen reported that prior to this session, Nawaf Salam ⁤held a bilateral meeting with President michel Aoun.
