UNICEF: Over 700,000 Children Deprived of Education in Gaza
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that children in the Gaza Strip are being denied their right to education. Schools have turned into shelters, and homes lie in ruins, leaving no safe or suitable place for learning.
According to UNICEF, more than 700,000 children in Gaza are currently excluded from formal education. This catastrophic educational crisis jeopardizes the future of an entire generation of Palestinian children and urgently calls for global attention.
The widespread closure of schools and destruction of educational facilities has halted all learning activities. This situation is placing severe psychological and social strain on both the children and their families.
Simultaneously occurring, the Director-General of the World Health Association expressed grave concern about humanitarian conditions in both Gaza and Sudan. he called for an immediate halt to hostilities in Gaza and urged that patients be allowed safe passage out for medical treatment.
He stated: “We call on Israel to stop its offensive in Gaza immediately and permit those seeking medical care to exit toward the West Bank and East Jerusalem.”
He emphasized that starving the people of Gaza will neither bring security nor aid efforts to secure prisoner releases.
The WHO representative in occupied Palestinian territories warned that as Palestinians are displaced toward southern Gaza, the humanitarian disaster will worsen there. He also highlighted notable challenges facing health service delivery across the region.
