Lebanon Army Commander Walks Out of Cabinet Meeting
The Lebanese Army commander, Rudolf Hilal, left the cabinet meeting and exited the presidential palace after presenting his plan to enforce state monopoly over weapons in Lebanon’s government session, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Nashra news outlet.
Earlier,LBCI reported that the lebanese Army’s proposed plan does not include specific deadlines.Its implementation depends on the army’s logistical and operational capabilities as well as on-the-ground conditions.
LBCI further noted that the army cannot commit to fixed timelines.
The network also denied reports claiming that execution of disarmament efforts had begun in Beirut. The army stated it cannot initiate operations in any area before completing its tasks in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Lebanese media revealed that the army has increased its readiness to suppress potential movements by Shia groups, notably in Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahieh.
