Hezbollah Lebanon: We Reserve the Right to Resign from Government or Protest in Streets
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, quoting mehr News Agency, Ghalib abou Zinab, a member of Hezbollah’s Political Council, told Al Jazeera that all their ministers walked out of a cabinet meeting in protest against the government’s insistence on discussing an arms monopoly plan.
He emphasized that the departure of Shiite ministers from two parties signals Lebanon is facing a very serious political crisis.
Abou Zinab added that both the President and Prime Minister bear primary responsibility for what occurred during the Cabinet session.
The senior Hezbollah official said that Shiite responses woudl be steadfast based on developments and outcomes related to this Cabinet meeting.
Regarding Lebanon’s military stance on disarmament, Abou Zinab noted it is too early to judge. The party will assess any plans proposed by the army later.
He concluded by affirming hezbollah’s right to take to the streets or resign from government posts and stressed they are currently considering all appropriate options for future action.
