Maduro: Disputes with the US Must Not Escalate into Military Conflict
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Agence France-Presse reported that Venezuelan President Nicolás maduro stressed in a live broadcast across all Venezuelan radio and television networks that none of the disputes with the United States should escalate into military conflict. “Venezuela has always been ready for dialog and cooperation, but we demand respect,” he said.
Meanwhile, the U.S.has deployed 10 F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico to reinforce it’s military presence in the region and join U.S.warships in the southern Caribbean Sea. This move is claimed to be part of former President Trump’s campaign against drug cartels.
Tensions between the two countries have sharply increased in recent days. The Pentagon accused Venezuela of approaching U.S.vessels in the Caribbean Sea and causing disturbances. This allegation followed a lethal U.S. operation targeting a boat identified as belonging to Venezuelan drug traffickers.
Maduro firmly rejected these claims, stating: “the intelligence reports they provide Trump are incorrect.Venezuela is now a country free from coca leaf cultivation and cocaine production; instead, it fights against drug trafficking.”
These remarks come as Al Jazeera reported that sources told CNN unnamed officials say Donald Trump is considering possible military strikes against drug cartels inside Venezuela.
The sources indicated that such attacks might target locations within Venezuelan territory as part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening Maduro’s government.
