Lebanese Army’s Secret Plan to Disarm Hezbollah Revealed

Lebanese media sources have revealed a confidential ⁤five-step plan by the Lebanese Army to disarm the resistance,⁣ along with its implementation conditions.

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr ⁣News Agency and Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar newspaper, reported that ministerial sources have disclosed a plan submitted by the Lebanese Army aimed at ‌monopolizing weaponry under state control. ⁣The plan includes five phases to gradually limit ⁢arms outside government authority‍ without specifying any ⁤deadlines.

According to ‌the⁣ report, these phases start with completing military operations in southern Litani. The effort then moves between the Litani and Awali rivers before expanding to Beirut and its outskirts. The fourth‌ phase covers Bekaa Valley, while the fifth enforces exclusive state control over all ‍weapons throughout Lebanon.

The sources⁣ explained that the⁢ plan accounts for both the army’s operational ⁣capabilities and potential obstacles it may encounter during implementation.

They added that the army will independently decide how⁤ to act across different regions based on its capacities and will submit detailed ‌monthly ‍reports on its progress to the government.

Crucially, this strategy requires a halt of Israeli regime aggressions and their withdrawal from occupied Lebanese positions as prerequisites for deploying‌ troops nationwide.

The initiative also emphasizes strengthening military deployments⁣ and checkpoints across multiple ⁣areas to prevent arms transfers ‌or smuggling. It calls for tighter control over Lebanon-Syria borders, closure of illegal crossings, prevention of weapons and drug trafficking, alongside completing efforts to collect arms from Palestinian refugee camps.

The report noted that this⁤ mechanism proposed by the army has helped reduce political disagreements. Some sources claim that a ‍statement issued was drafted overnight by president Joseph Aoun and Parliament Speaker⁤ Nabih Berri-with Prime Minister ‍Nawaf Salam’s approval-reflecting consensus among key leaders.

Berri’s remarks after⁣ a cabinet meeting support this view: in his first comments he described conditions as positive ‍and said he believes “the toxic winds have begun to subside.”

He expressed confidence that what occurred regarding ‍the army’s military plan safeguards internal ⁤peace in Lebanon.
