IAEA Board of Governors Meeting on Iran Begins Monday
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mikhail Ulyanov wrote on X that the September session of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors will begin this Monday. He stated there is no doubt that Iran and its nuclear program will be at the center of attention.
The report also cited diplomatic sources revealing that the Islamic Republic of Iran plans to present a draft resolution at the forthcoming IAEA General Conference condemning attacks on nuclear facilities as unacceptable. These sources added that this document is currently being prepared and will be submitted at the upcoming meeting. Ulyanov, Russia’s ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, confirmed this details in his post on X.
Responding to a targeted tweet by a Wall street Journal reporter criticizing Russia for supporting Iran’s proposed resolution at the Board of Governors, ulyanov pointed out that the journalist apparently did not understand or distinguish between IAEA’s Board of Governors and its General Conference-the latter being where Iran intends to introduce its draft resolution against attacks on nuclear sites.
He added: “Anti-Russian propagandists would do better by preparing thoroughly before engaging in discussions, so as to avoid such levels of absurdity and contradiction.” According to official schedules, the IAEA General Conference will take place over five days starting September 14 in Vienna.
