Powerful Storm Injures 23 in Japan + Video

News sources report that a powerful storm swept through Shizuoka in eastern Japan, leaving several injured.

A strong‌ storm ‌named Paipha hit Shizuoka Prefecture in eastern japan, according to teh ⁣English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency from Cairo Al-Akhbarieh.

The severe winds of Storm paipha caused extensive damage, destroying 227⁤ homes ⁤and causing trees to ⁣fall along with power line disruptions across Shizuoka.

At least 23 people were injured⁤ by the storm; three ​are reported to⁣ be in serious condition. The city of Makinohara suffered‌ important damage.

Images released from affected ⁣areas show roofs torn off houses and overturned vehicles blocking streets. Strong winds were recorded in four cities within Shizuoka Prefecture,including Yoshida and Makinohara.

A total of 43 buildings were either fully or partially destroyed, while another 184 sustained minor damage.

NHK ‍also reported that around 9 p.m. local time, Storm Paipha intensified into a tropical ⁢cyclone as⁤ it⁣ reached Japan’s ‌eastern‍ coastline.

A⁣ state of emergency has been declared in some areas. Rescue teams are currently ‌assessing the damage and coordinating relief efforts.
