Indian Prime Minister Will Not Attend United Nations General Assembly Meeting
According to webangah News Agency’s English section, citing Mehr News Agency and NDTV, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend this year’s annual United Nations General Assembly session scheduled for later this month.
The opening of the 80th UN General Assembly will take place on September 9. The session itself will run from September 23 to 29.
According to the revised list of speakers for the assembly, an Indian minister is scheduled to address the meeting instead.
The report added that India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will deliver his speech on September 27 during the session.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed a total tariff of 50 percent on Indian goods, including a 25 percent rate justified by India’s purchase of Russian oil-a move some media outlets link to Modi’s absence from official visits in Washington.
