400 Arrested in London Protest Supporting Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Israeli media outlet i24 News reported that British police arrested more than 400 people during a pro-Palestine exhibition in central London on Saturday.
the protest took place in front of the UK Parliament against the ban on activities by the group Palestine Action. Demonstrators held placards with slogans such as “I oppose genocide and support Palestine Action,” calling for the reversal of this decision.
The London Police claimed that some detainees were arrested for multiple offenses, including “assaulting police officers and supporting a banned organization.”
Several reports also indicated a violent police response toward protesters.
Last month, British police detained over 500 pro-Palestine activists in a single day.
Analysts say that the intensifying crackdown on pro-Palestine protests across Europe reflects increasing pressure on popular movements demanding an end to Israeli regime crimes in Gaza.
