Maritime Incident in Northwestern Turkey Claims Five Lives
A collision between a migrant boat and a turkish Coast Guard vessel has resulted in at least five fatalities.
According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, five people died after a migrant boat collided with a Turkish Coast Guard vessel in northwestern Turkey.
The local governor’s office stated that 34 migrants were aboard the speedboat at the time of the incident, which occurred off the coast near the city of Ayvalık. One person is reported missing following the accident.
Authorities said rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing individual. Additionally, one person sustained serious injuries and has been hospitalized.
The Aegean Sea is a common transit route for migrants traveling from North Africa and the Middle East seeking entry into Europe.
