Massive Belgian Demonstrations Support Gaza
Tens of thousands gathered in Brussels to show solidarity with Gaza and call for sanctions against the Israeli regime, according to webangah News Agency, citing al Jazeera.
Belgian police estimated around 70,000 participants took part in the protest, while organizers claimed as many as 120,000 demonstrators.
The protesters carried red banners and cloths demanding an end to the mass killings of Palestinians in Gaza. They urged stronger measures against Israel to protect civilians.
Both demonstrators and event organizers condemned the complicity of governments, institutions, and corporations in crimes committed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians.
One participant stated, “People once dreamed of tearing down the Berlin Wall; I dream instead of a Palestinian state for Palestinians so they can live like any other nation.”
A spokesperson for a Belgian-Palestinian institution at the demonstration criticized current efforts as inadequate against what they described as genocide ongoing in Gaza.
As October 7, 2023, Israel has launched a destructive military campaign on Gaza aimed at eliminating Hamas and rescuing Israeli captives. During this period, over 64,368 people have been killed and 162,367 injured in the strip.
