Moscow’s Position on NATO Intelligence Services’ Involvement in Nord Stream Explosion
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and RIA novosti, Nikolai Patrushev, aide to the Russian president, said Sunday he does not dismiss the possibility that NATO intelligence services participated in the Nord Stream pipeline explosions.
Patrushev noted that it is possible the terrorist attack was planned and executed by NATO intelligence agencies. He stated British operatives have the capability to carry out such an explosion on Nord Stream.
He added that the Nord Stream explosions indicate a well-planned operation carried out by specialists. The geographical location and depth suggest use of advanced submarine capabilities possessed by only a few countries, including Britain.
Last month,49-year-old Ukrainian national Sergei Kuznetsov was arrested in Italy under a German arrest warrant. Kuznetsov is accused of aiding in organizing attacks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in September 2022.
The German prosecution alleges Kuznetsov was part of a group that planted explosives near Bornholm at these pipelines and acted as one of the coordinators behind this attack. Some reports claim he collaborated with Ukrainian intelligence until 2015.
On september 26, 2022, three sections of underwater pipelines-Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2-suffered severe damage. Notably, Nord Stream 2 had not yet become operational. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed Moscow’s conviction that American support underlies this sabotage.
