Newsweek: India Is Moving Away from the United States
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, reported that Newsweek suggests the US might assume India will always comply with its demands, but current relations between the two countries prove otherwise.
According to the report, unlike Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous visit to the White House in February 2025-marked by a warm welcome and joint agreements-bilateral ties are now strained due to political and economic issues. Although former President Trump aimed to position himself as a mediator in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan over kashmir, India stated no third party was involved in this matter.
Another source of friction involves Pakistan’s closer ties with Washington, which have raised concerns in New Delhi amid visits by the Pakistani military chief to the White House.
The trade war and imposed tariffs on Indian goods following failed economic negotiations have further aggravated tensions. Despite US pressure, India continues purchasing Russian oil and is increasingly leaning towards China.
