Trump Envoy Warns Russian Attack Could Escalate Ukraine War Out of Control
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Kyiv Post, Keith Kellogg, former US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, called Russia’s recent missile strike on Ukraine’s Cabinet building in Kyiv a dangerous escalation of the conflict.
Kellogg said in a statement: “The risk in any war is escalation. It appears that Russia is escalating tensions with its largest strike yet against Ukrainian cabinet buildings in Kyiv.”
The former envoy added that he had visited the same building two weeks earlier alongside Ukraine’s Prime minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
he warned: “History shows such actions can cause situations to spiral out of control. That is why Trump has been trying to end this war. This attack was not a signal that Russia seeks a diplomatic resolution.”
The early-morning strike was part of Russia’s largest aerial assault since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Missiles and drones targeted multiple Ukrainian cities, causing destruction and reportedly killing at least four people, according to Ukrainian officials.
Speaking to reporters about the attack,Trump said he was “not satisfied with how things are going” and indicated he was prepared to initiate another round of sanctions against Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Trump for his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, saying it seemed Trump gave Putin “everything he wanted” and lamenting that “it was unfortunate Ukraine wasn’t present.”
Trump also reiterated his plan to hold a phone conversation with Putin within days.
