Lula da Silva: U.S. Military Presence in Caribbean Causes Tension

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing⁣ Jamaika Observer via Mehr News Agency, Brazilian President Luiz‌ Inácio Lula da Silva condemned the US military ‍deployment in the Caribbean‌ as an act​ that fuels tensions‌ against Venezuela during Monday’s extraordinary ⁤virtual BRICS summit.

speaking at the online BRICS meeting, Lula emphasized that the‌ US⁣ military presence in the Caribbean is a source of instability.

He ⁣further called for a “realistic solution” to resolve conflicts in ukraine.

Lula added, “The meeting between‍ Vladimir Putin and⁤ donald Trump in alaska, followed by subsequent talks in Washington, ‍are steps in the right direction to end this conflict.”

Regarding US deployments in ⁤the Caribbean region, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro previously announced positioning 25,000 troops along Colombia’s border and on the Caribbean coast.

Maduro explained that this troop deployment aims​ to strengthen rapid response operations and safeguard national security.

He stressed: “The main goal of this mobilization is ⁢defending sovereignty and national⁤ security while fighting for ‍peace.”

The United States had earlier announced sending 10 additional fighter jets‌ to Puerto Rico‍ under the pretext​ of conducting operations against drug cartels.
