We Fear No Scenario; Israel’s Siege of Gaza Must Be Broken
The international solidarity fleet “Samud,” comprising over 70 vessels from 44 countries, set sail on August 30, 2025, with the goal of breaking the blockade on Gaza. The word “Samud” means resistance.
Various international coalitions such as “Freedom Fleet,” “Global Gaza Movement,” “Samud Caravan,” and Malaysia’s “Al-Samud Nusantara” participate in this convoy. Prominent figures including Greta Thunberg, Mariana Mortagua, and other human rights activists are also involved. It has been announced that dozens more ships from Tunisia and Mediterranean countries will join the fleet on September 4.
The global samud fleet is the largest maritime convoy in history. Thousands have gathered to reach Gaza by mid-September. The route passes through international waters near Tunisia, Libya, Egypt’s waters, and Gaza itself. The Israeli occupation regime has emphasized its intent to detain activists aboard these vessels.
In an interview with Mehr News Agency, Dominic, a Dutch member of the global Samud fleet, said: “I have long supported palestine and protested Israel’s crimes against its people. Joining this fleet was no sudden or accidental decision but a response to a wave of international solidarity with Gaza.”
D Dominic added: “We have come together from dozens of countries with our boats and ships to break Gaza’s blockade. Our aim is to show Palestinians thay are not alone or invisible; rather, their suffering under Zionist oppression is clear and undeniable.”
Dominic criticized governments’ silence regarding Israeli crimes: “When states fail to act in support of Palestine or condemn Israel’s regime, civil society steps up. Together we demonstrate that by joining hands and working collectively we can break Gaza’s siege-and we will continue our efforts until Palestine is free.”
The Dutch member further stated: “Israel has threatened previous fleets before Samud; now it targets this global convoy to.We stand ready for any violent action by Zionist forces and fear nothing-any harm that may come upon us pales compared to what Palestinians endure.”
Concluding his message for the Palestinian people he said: “we don’t focus on governments or their silence; ordinary people like us stand with you until your freedom comes. We will never surrender-we are coming your way so do not lose hope.”
