webangah News Agency, international desk: Despite American and Zionist efforts to disarm the resistance, Lebanon is approaching a perilous turning point.According to the Zionist vision of “Greater Israel,” disarmament is not limited to Lebanon’s resistance but must occur throughout the Arab world.
Some media sources report on former President Trump’s proposal to create an economic zone in southern Lebanon. Naturally, this is not intended as aid for Lebanon; rather, it serves plans for dividing the country and seizing its resources. In this context, these actors support Israeli crimes and-according to Republican Senator Lindsey graham-aim to end Hezbollah’s existence entirely.
In this framework, Varda Saad of webangah News Agency conducted an interview with Adnan Mansour, former Lebanese Foreign Minister. The full text follows:
on the 47th anniversary of the kidnapping of Imam Sayyed Musa al-Sadr and his companions,Nabih Berri,Speaker of Parliament in Lebanon,stated: ”We are ready for calm dialog regarding the weapons of resistance-a matter tied directly to our honor and dignity.” How do you interpret Berri’s words? don’t you think that this stage requires decisiveness rather than calm dialogue?
Nabih Berri’s speech on this solemn anniversary confirmed his commitment to discussing Hezbollah’s armament calmly. As a leading figure deeply familiar with Lebanese affairs and sensitive political dynamics within Beirut-including factions aligned with American projects seeking Hezbollah’s disarmament-Berri carefully weighed his words.
Berri made it clear that he views any U.S.-lead plan or imposed government initiative aimed at disarming Hezbollah with caution because he understands such measures are impossible without undermining national honor. He regards these weapons as essential symbols of dignity for the Lebanese people.
How can one expect Hezbollah’s disarmament while parts of southern Lebanon remain under Israeli occupation? No country subjected to foreign military occupation surrenders its defenses while occupiers freely operate on its soil-it is unacceptable. The Lebanese people have paid a heavy price defending their land from repeated Israeli aggressions.
If there truly is a desire within Lebanon to discuss resistance weaponry, then let it be through calm dialogue built on sincere patriotism by all parties involved so they can reach consensus decisions securing national unity, citizens’ rights, and sovereignty.
The idea that southern Lebanon could be demilitarized remains unrealistic amidst ongoing daily Israeli drone flights targeting villages or systematically preventing displaced residents from returning home. Even when considering reconstruction efforts following damages caused by conflict escalation last year-and since November 27 ceasefire adherence-the reality remains stark: Israel continues attacks unabated-with over 4,000 reported violations resulting in 260 deaths and 1,500 injuries since then-even though Lebanon has fully observed truce terms without retaliating once politically demanded by Speaker berri.
