the unrest, led primarily by Generation Z, stems not only from opposition to the social media bans but also from deep dissatisfaction with government corruption and economic hardships. In response, Nepal’s government imposed a curfew and deployed military forces to restore order.
Late Monday night, Nepalese authorities lifted the ban on social media platforms. The restrictions had sparked what organizers called a “Gen Z protest,” which took place in Kathmandu and other cities nationwide.
