Nepali Protesters Set Officials’ Homes on Fire + Video
according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rosyia Al-Youm via Mehr News Agency, several government officials fled Nepal’s capital by military helicopters. This occurred amid escalating protests across the country.
Reports also indicate that protesters torched the residences of the president,current prime minister,and former prime minister. The homes of the head of Nepal Congress Party and the interior minister where also set on fire.
Following a worsening political crisis triggered by government-imposed internet restrictions,Nepal’s international airport was shut down and all flights canceled. These restrictions were lifted one day after protests intensified nationwide.
Hundreds of military personnel have been deployed at the airport to maintain order.
