Israeli Soldier Tried in Germany for War Crimes in Gaza
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, reports that human rights lawyers have submitted a complaint today against an Israeli soldier of German origin. He is accused of involvement in war crimes and targeting defenseless Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
The European Center for Fundamental Rights and Human Rights, along with three Palestinian human rights organizations, announced thay lodged a criminal complaint with the Federal Prosecutor General of Germany against an Israeli sniper affiliated with Unit 202 Paratroopers Battalion in the Israeli army.
According to these organizations, the soldier is 25 years old, born and raised in Munich, and until recently held registered residence status in Germany.
The groups state that their detailed 130-page complaint includes evidence such as investigations, audio recordings, and video footage showing this soldier’s activity within the unit responsible for deliberately killing civilians in Gaza.
The center added that under German law this case can be pursued as prosecutors are authorized to investigate international crimes committed by suspects born or holding citizenship in Germany.
Earlier this year,the media agency of the Israeli regime revealed that pro-Palestinian organizations worldwide had filed 50 complaints across local courts against Israeli soldiers accused of committing war crimes in Gaza.
