Lavrov Condemns Israel’s Attack on Qatar
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Russia Al-Youm via Mehr News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, expressed Moscow’s solidarity with Qatar’s leadership and people following Israel’s attack on Doha in a phone call with Qatari Prime minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman.
Lavrov told his Qatari counterpart that Russia condemns Israel’s aggressive actions as a flagrant breach of international law.
Separately, the chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs strongly condemned Israel’s attack in comments to Al Jazeera. He said the assault undermines Qatar’s peaceful mediation efforts amid the Gaza crisis.
Highlighting Qatar’s active role in Gaza negotiations, he described Qatar as one of the most effective actors in resolving regional conflicts and supported Doha’s efforts to secure a ceasefire and release Israeli captives.
The Russian official also announced that Moscow would work to have Israel’s criminal actions condemned at the UN Security Council. He stressed intensified international efforts would be made to respond appropriately to this violation of qatari sovereignty.
Concluding his remarks with condolences to the families affected by Israel’s attack on Qatar, he emphasized Qatar’s crucial role in Middle East peace processes.
The official stated: “Israel has violated Qatari sovereignty-a country that actively participates in negotiations and has played an influential role for years in addressing Middle Eastern issues.”
