The Largest U.S.-Japan Joint Exercise, Dragon Decisive 25, Begins
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Sputnik, the United States and Japan began their largest joint military exercise to date, titled “Resolute Dragon 25”, on Thursday. the drill is taking place across three different regions in Japan.
The exercise aims to test defensive scenarios in southern, central, and northern japan. for the first time, it will include testing of the U.S. intermediate-range missile system known as Typhoon.
The japanese Ministry of Defense announced that more than 14,000 members of its self-Defense Forces will participate alongside approximately 5,000 U.S. personnel from the Navy,Army,Air Force,and Marine Corps.
The Typhoon missile system is scheduled for temporary deployment at Fort Iwakuni Air Base in Yamaguchi Prefecture under U.S. Marine Corps control for testing purposes.
This drill has sparked concern both internationally and within japan. China and Russia have warned that deploying the Typhoon system could destabilize the region and escalate an arms race.
