GCC Repeats Claims on Iran’s Three Islands
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), repeated claims regarding iran’s three islands at the Sochi meeting. He stated, “We call on Iran to respond to the UAE’s efforts to resolve the disputed three islands issue through dialogue.”
The eighth meeting of Russian and GCC Strategic Dialogue ministers began today, Thursday, in Sochi.
Recently, at their 165th foreign ministers’ meeting, the GCC again asserted that Iran’s Tunb al-Kubra (Greater Tunb), tunb al-Sughra (Lesser Tunb), and Abu Musa Islands belong to the United Arab Emirates.
The council also claimed that the Arash gas field is entirely within Kuwait’s maritime boundaries and that sovereignty over it rests solely with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Furthermore, in an intrusive move, the council demanded that “the security concerns of member states” be included in ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
These recurring unfounded allegations have once again prompted firm responses from officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
