U.S. Delegation Holds Consultations with Belarus President

The‌ spokesperson for ⁣the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius announced consultations between the American delegation and the Belarusian president, resulting in the release of prisoners of various nationalities by Minsk.

The U.S. Embassy ​spokesperson in Vilnius,Lithuania,announced on Thursday that Belarus has‌ released 52 prisoners of diffrent nationalities. These individuals are‌ now en route to Lithuania alongside the ⁢American delegation that negotiated ‌thier freedom, according to ⁢the English section of webangah‍ News Agency,⁢ citing Reuters via Mehr ‌News Agency.

Former President donald Trump had previously urged Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to free these detainees.

This group represents the largest number of prisoners pardoned ⁢by Lukashenko to ⁤date.

The U.S. Embassy spokesperson also reported that⁣ an American delegation led ‌by John Coale,Deputy Assistant to President Trump,traveled from Minsk to Vilnius following ⁣negotiations and facilitated ⁤the release of these 52 individuals.

Separately, Belarus’s state news agency Belta ​stated that among those freed on Thursday were 14 foreign nationals from Lithuania,⁣ Latvia, Poland, France, England, and Germany.

Belta further quoted⁤ Coale-a lawyer working ‍on behalf of Trump-saying that the U.S. president has expressed a desire to reopen its embassy in ‍Minsk.
