NATO Launches Military Operation to Strengthen Eastern Borders in Poland
The English section of webangah News Agency reports, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the launch of an Eastern Branch operation to strengthen positions along NATOS eastern borders.
Stoltenberg stated that this operation would enhance both NATO’s resolve and adaptability, emphasizing that these forces remain fully prepared for defense.
The senior NATO commander described the Operation Eastern Guard as a swift and measured initiative designed to increase deterrence and bolster defensive strength.
Stoltenberg added that these forces will be present alongside Poland, while monitoring deployments by France, Germany, Denmark, and the United Kingdom.
The alliance chief rejected Russia’s claim that it’s entry into Polish airspace was accidental. He stressed that such statements will not prevent NATO from reinforcing its eastern front.
He affirmed that NATO forces will respond directly to any threat in their eastern region without hesitation.
In this context, Germany also announced plans to deploy its air force to Poland to strengthen its eastern air border defenses.
On Wednesday morning, September 10, Poland reported shooting down several Russian drones that had penetrated its airspace. Warsaw said this aggressive act was repelled with support from NATO allies. Wreckage from 16 unmanned drones was found across various locations in the country.
Moscow denied duty for the attacks. A senior Russian diplomat in Poland claimed the drones entered Polish airspace from Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated their drones were engaged in a large-scale assault on military facilities in western Ukraine but emphasized no targets inside Polish territory were attacked.
