Deadly U.S. Immigration Police Operation Strikes Chicago
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing ABC News via Mehr News agency, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that they fatally shot an individual who attacked their officers with a vehicle.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said ICE agents were attempting to detain the man when he resisted and drove a car toward the group. An agent struck by the vehicle immediately opened fire, killing the attacker. Authorities confirmed that the suspect died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
ICE stated that the individual had a history of reckless driving and was listed as an undocumented immigrant. A local police spokesman in Franklin Park clarified that their department was not involved in this incident.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker posted on social media, saying, ”This matter isn’t over yet, and Illinois residents deserve full openness and accountability with a complete and truthful account of what happened today.”
franklin Park, located near ChicagoS O’Hare Airport with about 18,000 residents, has a population made up approximately half by Hispanic Americans of Latin origin.
U.S. immigration authorities have intensified operations in Chicago over the past week under orders from President Donald Trump’s governance.
