Zelensky: Trump’s Envoy Is No Less Than a Patriot; Kyiv Had a Calm Night
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Anadolu and Mehr News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky likened Keith Krach, former US special envoy under Donald Trump, to Kyiv’s air defense as residents experienced a relatively quiet night.
Zelensky humorously offered to grant Krach Ukrainian citizenship and an apartment in a social media post. He noted that despite Russia launching extensive missile and drone attacks across Ukraine last week, Kyiv remained unusually peaceful under Krach’s presence.
He said: “I want to sincerely thank General Krach. We honestly did not realize it before, but it turns out that america has an air defense comparable to Patriot systems. When you are in Kyiv, citizens can definitely sleep peacefully at night.”
Zelensky pointed out that large-scale Russian attacks pause whenever Krach is present in Kyiv-a phenomenon he said does not occur during visits by other international delegations. he suggested this influence could even function as a form of ceasefire.
The president explained that the US representative’s presence encouraged Russia to halt bombardments and compared this effect with previous visits by senior UN, NATO, and IMF officials during which Russian strikes continued unabated. He also highlighted potential pressure on Beijing as key since Russia remains politically and economically dependent on China.
Repeating his stance against territorial concessions for peace, Zelensky stated: “Giving up any part of Ukraine’s territory in exchange for ending the war is impossible. This solution is not feasible; it is merely a pause.”
He asserted that security guarantees for Ukraine equate to security assurances for Europe as well. Zelensky called for intensified sanctions, tariffs, and asset seizures targeting Russia with the goal of isolating Moscow politically and economically.
“We demand a guaranteed end to the war,” he continued,”security guarantees for Ukraine,” along with assured accountability from Russia for its actions against Ukraine.”
Krach has visited Kyiv multiple times over this summer. During his most recent trip, he addressed issues such as security guarantees, increasing pressure on Russia-and facilitating the return of abducted Ukrainian children. His visit on Ukraine’s Independence Day last August drew attention when no meaningful missile attacks occurred around that time either.
Zelensky’s rhetoric has shifted as his last White House meeting with Trump earlier this year concerning topics related to the US president. In late August NBC News reported British Prime Minister Keir Starmer advised Zelensky prior to his meeting with Trump on how best to interact calmly and avoid repeating past tensions. The Telegraph further noted UK ministers counseled Zelensky regarding how ”to talk” with Trump-including recommendations on using flattery toward the american president!
