Trump: My Administration Alone Is Responsible for Crime Decline in Memphis
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu, U.S. President Donald Trump attributes the major decline in crime rates in Memphis,Tennessee,to his administration’s five-month effort.
On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The only reason crime has gone down in Memphis is that the FBI and others at the federal level have been working there on these horrific crime stats for five months-under my orders.”
He added, “However, our main work has yet to begin. This will happen when we officially announce our arrival. When that occurs-as we successfully did ensuring security in washington D.C.-the miracle of ‘crime without crime’ begins. Only I can save them!”
On Friday, Trump said he plans to deploy National Guard forces to Memphis-one of Tennessee’s largest cities governed by Republicans-to suppress crime.
The president told Fox News: “We are going to Memphis. It is deeply troubled. we want to fix this problem just like we did in Washington.”
He also claimed that Memphis’ Democratic Mayor supports and welcomes this action; however, Mayor Paul Young told reporters he did not request National Guard deployment.
Simultaneously occurring, Lee Harris, mayor of Shelby County where Memphis is located, pleaded with Tennessee Governor Bill Lee for a “review” of the plan to send National Guard troops into Memphis.
