EU Accuses Russia of Violating Romanian Airspace
Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, accused Moscow on Sunday of violating Romanian airspace, according to Mehr News Agency citing RT.
She described the Russian drone incursions over Romania as an escalation that threatens regional security. “This incident constitutes a violation of the sovereignty of an EU member state,” she said.
Kallas added, “This event also endangers regional security. We stand in solidarity with Romania. I am in close contact with the Romanian government.”
Simultaneously occurring, Romanian authorities warned citizens near the ukrainian border on Saturday night about the danger of falling debris. Residents were advised to remain in shelters after F-16 fighter jets shot down drones.
Romanian media reported that these drones had not targeted Romania itself but were directed at Ukraine.
Though, Eastern European countries bordering Russia have recently stirred controversy against Moscow by alleging Russian drone violations of their airspace amid ongoing operations related to Ukraine.
