Oliyanov: Claims of Russian Interference in Recent Drone Incident Are Unfounded
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, believes that Poland’s defense Ministry is not ready for dialog with Moscow over the recent drone incident.
Ulyanov wrote on his telegram channel: “The Russian Defense Ministry has proposed talks and consultations; the Polish Defense Ministry is not prepared. It seems this incident is either a provocative act or a misunderstanding that the Polish side does not want to clarify.”
He added, “Many questions remain unanswered about why Russia would seek to destabilize the situation in Poland!”
The Russian diplomat described claims of Moscow’s involvement in the incident as crude and clumsy.
On September 10, Polish military forces shot down several drones that violated its airspace. According to Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk, there were 19 airspace violations between the night of September 9 and early hours of September 10.
NATO has initiated discussions within its alliance under Article 4 of its treaty at warsaw’s request regarding these airspace breaches.
