Sánchez: Pro-Palestine Protests Are a Source of Pride for Spain
According too the English section of webangah News agency, citing Israeli media outlet The Times of Israel, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated on Sunday that the pro-Palestinian demonstrations during the nation’s cycling event are a matter of pride.
The prime minister said that the protests by Palestinian supporters against Israeli teams, which considerably affected the Vuelta a España race, filled him with “pride.”
The demonstrations took place amid competition involving Israel-Premier Tech and disrupted several stages of the major 21-day cycling event. They raised serious doubts about weather the race could be completed.
In his first public comments on this issue, Sánchez expressed gratitude to people across Spain mobilizing for what he called “the just cause” of Palestine.
Speaking at a Socialist Party gathering in Málaga,he said: “Today Spain shines as an example and source of pride-a model for the international community taking a step forward in defending human rights.”
