Despite Israeli attacks on doha, Qatar’s capital and a Washington ally, Rubio’s visit aims to once again emphasize U.S. backing for Tel Aviv.
This trip occurs amid former President Donald Trump’s populist criticism of Tel aviv’s strike on Qatar-a move that media sources acknowledge was coordinated with Washington.
Before leaving for the occupied territories, Rubio stressed that Trump’s rare public criticism over the bombing in Doha would not alter Washington’s strong support for the Israeli regime.
